Crazy Egg is a tool known not only for their heatmap and recordings features, but also for their A/B testing capabilities. One innovative approach they offer is the possibility to do simple edits to the elements of the website they are installed on, so that a customer could directly act on the user behavior data he/she is getting. Therefore, in addition to getting insights into user behavior (how users click, move, scroll), you can directly edit your web design to answer those behavior patterns.
Matomo, formerly known as Piwik, is a popular website analytics platform. It has a free on-premise version that provides very basic statistics, on top of which you can add extra features such as funnels, heatmaps, advertising conversion reports, session recordings, and many others, in exchange for a fee. If you want to add all the available features you will actually end up paying a few thousand euros per month.
Compared to Matomo, TWIPLA is more transparent when it comes to pricing plans. All the features are included in all of the subscriptions and you pay as your website grows. Either way, no matter the amount of traffic, with TWIPLA you will end up paying less than with Matomo.
Also, the TWIPLA free version is actually free, there are no hidden fees.
The table below shows a comparison between Matomo and TWIPLA in regards to features, privacy and, of course, pricing. Make sure you consider all the necessary aspects when adding an analytics tracking code to your website.

For the time being, TWIPLA and Crazy Egg only share 2 features: visitor recordings (also known as session replays), and heatmaps (Crazy Egg has them in the snapshots section).
Similarities:
TWIPLA Extras:
Crazy Egg Extras:
Conclusion:
It is difficult to have distinctive features for the session replay tool. All providers of this service will likely have a very similar core functionality. The differences between TWIPLA and Crazy Egg in this concern are not very significant.
A major difference is the pricing, as Crazy Egg starts from $24 / month and only offers annual plans. TWIPLA starts from $5.83 / month.
Similarities:
TWIPLA Extras:
TWIPLA has a more user-friendly approach in terms of grouping heatmaps, which is URL/page based. You access one heatmap and you can switch between mobile and desktop interactions, in the same view. Crazy Egg, on the other hand, generates separate heatmaps and entries, for the same URL/page, based on the display. From our point of view, this makes it harder to quickly find different displays of the same page in Crazy Egg. *NOTE: However, there is an option to change this for Crazy Egg, too.
TWIPLA has a distinct mouse movement heatmap, while Crazy Egg does not.
You can generate one heatmap for similar pages (e.g.product pages).
The click map for pages with less traffic looks better in TWIPLA. It shows proper red, orange and yellow areas, even when there are less clicks. In the case of Crazy Egg, the click data is too precise and, therefore, scattered (you can get several clicks on the same button, but if they are not in the exact same spot, they will each show a “cold” dot). However, this is not the case when there is a higher volume of visitors, in which case both tools offer very usable views.
Crazy Egg Extras:
Conclusion:
All in all, in terms of heatmaps, TWIPLA seems slightly more user-friendly, but Crazy Egg is very powerful in terms of the ability to apply filters directly on the heatmap, with the confetti view.
Note: the table only compares common features for the 2 services. Please remember that for the displayed prices, users also receive other features - the full website statistics module + funnels for TWIPLA; A/B Testing and Website Editing for Crazy Egg.

As you can see in the table, the two providers use different methods for calculating limits for premium plans.
All in all, TWIPLA gives you more control over which data to store and for how long. If you do the math, it also offers higher limits than Crazy Egg, both for heatmaps and recordings. It is also about 5x more affordable for most premium plans, which makes it a top alternative to Crazy Egg. All of this in the context of fairly similar functionality, but without taking into account the other features the two providers offer.
