This three-page PDF download compares the quality of datasets built by TWIPLA, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and AWStats - three website analytics platforms that take different approaches to data collection.
You'll find technical information about TWIPLA, GA4, and AWStats on:
In discussions with our customers, we were asked whether TWIPLA collects less data in some cases than GA4 and AWStats. The answer is: "Yes and no".
A partial reduction is due to better data curation, as our cookieless tracking system removes more of the bots, crawlers and other disruptive factors that "inflate" the datasets collected by other providers.
Our platform also has more robust privacy measures, providing the intel that businesses need within any legal threshold. This results in the privacy paradox: less data, but more useful data.
And when comparing datasets, it's also important to take into consideration the different methodologies used by these tools. As you'll see in the guide, TWIPLA and GA4 focus on client-side data collection with strong privacy compliance mechanisms, and they filter out bots and manage sessions accurately. By contrast, AWStats captures all server-side data - including bot traffic - and this leads to inflated visitor counts.
